Space Dye Weigher

Location: Dalton, GA

Job Summary:

  • The Space Dye Weigher is responsible for weighing dyes and chemicals for the multi-color dye line.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sign initials to each formula upon completion of weighing.
  • Check volumes of dyes at start of each shift and during production of lot.
  • Check volumes two hours into shift to figure how much dye was used. Divide by two for accurate dye used per hour. If dye line shuts down within the two-hour period, do not count down times as running time.
  • Compare how many hours of dye is left to how many hours it will take to run lot to know how much dye is needed to finish lot.
  • Responsible for operating boil-up tanks and having dyes dissolved properly for the machines.
  • Responsible for making back-up tanks if there isn’t enough dye to run the lot.
  • Responsible for thoroughly cleaning all tanks when color is finished running.
  • Responsible for keeping scales clean and free of objects that could inhibit proper weighing of dyes and make sure they are properly balanced before weighing each run.
  • Responsible for checking all dyes and chemicals weekly and recording them in pounds on inventory sheet and then give to Dye Clerk.
  • Responsible monthly for weighing all dyes and chemicals and recording them on inventory sheet to be given to Dye Clerk.
  • Responsible annually for weighing all dyes and chemicals and recording them on inventory sheet. Place sticker with weight on each container or drum and wait for auditors to confirm.
  • Responsible for receiving all chemicals each week as they come in.
  • Keep dye room clean.

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Lifting is required, a weight of 1 to 100lbs twice per shift.
  • Standing is required 8 times per shift for 15 minutes each boil up.
  • Reaching is required 80 times per shift for dyes and chemicals.
  • Stooping is required 80 times per shift for 5 minutes each time.
  • Bending is required 80 times per shift for dyes and chemicals.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and shade differences.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or relevant experience.
  • Must be able to do basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Must operate a lift truck and complete necessary lift truck training.

Other Requirements:

  • Safety equipment must be worn as required.
  • Must be able to use scissors and hand trucks at some point during shift.
  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
