Hard Surface Brand Manager

Job Summary:

The Residential Hard Surface Brand Manager (HSBM) is responsible for launching, communicating, and driving all products and programs within the Residential Hard Surface, and Mainstreet Commercial soft and hard surface product categories. The HSBM must possess comprehensive knowledge of the product line and competitive products. Key responsibilities include managing retail products from inception through market launch, analyzing performance across all retail channels, and driving annual carpet sales revenue. Strong internal and external communication skills are essential.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • This position is a remote position that requires extensive travel in the sales field (minimum of 50% traveling with overnight stays) to gather feedback and input related to product development, samples, merchandising, competitive pressure, and marketing needs, as well as cultivating and establishing relationships with our sales organization and retail customers.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Product Marketing, and Product Category Managers to launch new products, fill product line gaps, and identify opportunities. Work with sales to determine pricing, margins, and forecasts. Monitor existing product performance and manage SKU rationalization.
  • Sample Manufacturing: Ensure timely market introduction of new products and manage sample inventory levels. Provide merchandising, packaging, and shipping solutions to support the sales organization.
  • Promotional Activity & Forecasting: Align capacity and service levels for promotional activities and forecast new product introductions effectively.
  • Regularly communicate with Sales, Sample Department, Customer Service, Product Marketing, and Financial Services to launch new products and promotions and manage existing promotions.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to meet merchandising requirements. Develop communication tools to train and motivate the sales organization and maintain direct customer communication.
  • Present product and financial performance to senior management and the sales team. Engage with buying groups, distributors, and international customers.
  • Develop and submit an annual go-to-market strategy and quarterly progress reports. Manage budgets, sample loss, and promotional expenses.
  • Gather product feedback and competitive information from the sales field. Attend regional sales meetings and events to train and educate the sales force.
  • Product Brands & Marketed Programs: Responsible to manage and serve as the primary communicator for the Residential Mainstreet Commercial (Pentz) soft surface and hard surface product lines, maintaining constant communication with the sales field and responding promptly to queries.
  • Internal & External Communication: Coordinate product launches and promotional strategies with various managers. Work with Digital Marketing to drive products and programs on digital platforms.
  • Product Pricing: Establish and maintain competitive pricing levels and communicate all pricing changes to ensure alignment across all channels.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a field sales role (i.e., Territory Manager, Regional Manager, Builder Specialist, Commercial Specialist, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of Engineered Floors and competitor hard surface product lines, and Main Street Commercial Pentz soft and hard surface product lines.
  • Experience with Panagon Report Manager, DSS Web Reports, G-Link, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have a high level of effective, professional corporate and sales presentation skills for large, diverse groups.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel overnight in the sales field and to the corporate office extensively (air, auto, and rail) on a regular basis.
  • Must reside in geography that is within a 30-mile radius of major airport.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, sit at a workstation, and drive an automobile for extended periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
