Job Summary:

The purpose of the Backing Inspector is to be responsible for observing and monitoring carpet backing for defects. When defects are observed, proper personnel is notified and appropriate action is taken to produce the best quality carpet possible.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Inspect carpet on a continuous line for defects and quality.
• Monitor style/ color changes to make sure carpet is first quality.
• Continually look at both edges of carpet to make sure there is no quality issues.
• Check roll numbers and mea numbers on back of carpet to ensure the information is correct.
• Cut out and weigh paper checks.
• Any quality issues or concerns should be reported to supervisor immediately.
• Flag any defects and communicate directly to inspector on what was flagged.
• Help clean back printer when it is not printing correctly.

• Must be able to work in a repetitive motion and fast paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills preferred
• Must be able to stand 80 % of shift
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Experience/Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Must be able to do basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Must have basic computer skills.

Other Requirements:

• All accidents must be reported immediately.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
• Safety equipment must be worn as required and requirements must be followed for all areas.
• Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
• Responsible for quality and safety of his/her own output.
